In the Elizabethan era the Hall family were prominent in the village. They occupied the hall next to the church, known as Shakerstone Mannor. During the Civil War, Shackerstone was near enough to attract the attention of both parties.

During World War II, the remains of the motte-and-bailey castle had an air raid shelter dug into it. Located close to Shackerstone was the stately home of Gopsall Hall home of Charles Jennens, a librettist and friend of George Frideric Handel.

Market Bosworth Country Park The 35 hectares (86 acres) landscaped Country Park was formerly part of Bosworth Hall deer parkland. The park features a lake, a planted arboretum, a wildflower meadow and a community woodland.

Barton in the Beans Barton in the Beans is a hamlet in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire. It was in the 18th century an important centre for the Baptist Church and the minister at Barton was the notable clockmaker Samuel Deacon. The population ca. 1830 was 177.

Shackerstone Shackerstone is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire. It is situated on the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal and River Sence. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 811, including Odstone which had risen to 921 at the 2011 census.
