At the time of the Domesday Book Ocle Pychard was in the Hundred of Tornelaus, and contained 35 households. The population included 9 villagers, 11 smallholders (middle level of serf below a villager), and 13 slaves. Ocle Pichard derived its additional name from a family which arrived soon after the Norman Conquest.

Ullingswick
Ullingswick is about 6 miles (9.7 km) south west of Bromyard, 9 miles (14 km) north east of Hereford and 10 miles south east of Leominster. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Ullingwic. The name may derive from “Ulla ingas wic”, where Ulla was the name of an Anglo-Saxon chief. St Luke’s church has a Norman nave, 13th century chancel and Victorian porch and bell tower.
