Frewen College (formally Brickwall House School) is a day and boarding school for dyslexic children. Elizabeth I’s slippers were given as a memento after she rested under the oak on Church Road. There is a Site of Special Scientific Interest within the village.

Northiam photo Brickwall House
Brickwall House was home to the Frewen family for over three hundred years. The timber-framed Tudor house dates to 1617. It is now run as a dyslexia school and wedding venue.
