Welsh Bicknor history
Welsh Bicknor was a detached parish of Monmouthshire, although adjacent to English BickNor and Lydbrook, which are part of Gloucestershire. It has been deemed part of Herefordshire since the Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844. The manor house and surrounding land belonged to the Vaughan family. Religious dissension within the Vaughan families continued for several generations.
