The villages name means ‘Waca’s farm/settlement’ The earliest known presence of people in the parish is known to be as far back as prehistoric times. There was a strong Roman period presence in Wacton too. The Eastern Union Railway used to run through the village from Scole to London from the mid 19th century to its closure in 1966.

South Norfolk

St Peter’s Church, Forncett
St Peter’s is one of seven churches in the parish of Upper Tas Valley All Saints in south Norfolk, ten miles south of Norwich, UK. It is an active place of worship and a nationally significant Grade I listed building. Its Anglo-Saxon round tower, built circa 1000 AD, is considered one of the best in the country.
Forncett railway station
Forncett railway station was opened in 1849 when Norwich and Ipswich were connected by the Eastern Union Railway. Between 1881 and 1951 it was a junction for a short route to Wymondham. It was closed as a result of the Beeching Axe.
