Upsall history
The village is mentioned in two entries of the Domesday Book as Upsale in the Yarlestre hundred. Lands at the time of the Norman invasion were in the possession of Earl Waltheof, but soon passed to the Crown from whence it was granted to Count Robert of Mortain.
Upsall geography / climate
Upsall suffered from the North Yorkshire Floods in June 2005. Nine inches of rain fell on the village in about two hours on 19 June. The nearest settlements are Knayton 1.24 miles (2 km) to the north west.
