Twynholm history


Twynholm was a parish from medieval times until 1975, including the neighbouring parish of Kirkchrist from 1654. The village was founded in the 16th century when two mills were set up on the burn which passes through the village centre. The church was constructed in 1818 and was restored and the roof replaced in 1914.

Twynholm photo Broughton House
Broughton House is an 18th-century town house in Kirkcudbright, Scotland. It was the home of Scots impressionist artist E. A. Hornel between 1901 and 1933. During this time Hornel remodelled the house and created the Japanese-influenced gardens.
