The name Sunninghill means “the home of Sunna’s people, that is the Anglo-Saxon Sunningas tribe” The Church of England parish church of St Michael and All Angels was originally established about 890 but was rebuilt in 1808 and 1826–27. Cordes Hall in the centre of the village, was designed by Edward and Joseph Morris and built in 1902.
