Roxburgh was a settlement of some importance during the reign of David I who conferred Royal Burgh status upon the town. Its significance lay in its position upon the River Tweed, which allowed river transport of goods via the main seaport of Berwick-upon-Tweed. In 1237, the future Alexander III was born there.

Capture of Roxburgh (1460) The Capture of Roxburgh was a siege during the Anglo-Scottish Wars. James II of Scotland had started a campaign to recapture Roxburgh and Berwick from the English. King James would die during the siege being blown up by a cannon.

Roxburgh Castle Roxburgh Castle overlooks the junction of the rivers Tweed and Teviot, in the Borders region of Scotland. Its castleton developed into the royal burgh of Roxburgh, which the Scots destroyed along with the castle after capturing it in 1460.

Siege of Roxburgh Castle The Capture of Roxburgh was a major conflict in the First War of Scottish Independence. This siege was a prelude to the Battle of Bannockburn.

Floors Castle Floors Castle, in Roxburghshire, south-east Scotland, is the seat of the Duke of Roxburghe. It was built in the 1720s by the architect William Adam for Duke John. In the 19th century it was embellished with turrets and battlements by William Playfair.

Wallace’s Tower Wallace’s Tower is a ruined 16th-century L-plan tower house in Kelso, Scottish Borders, Scotland, in Roxburgh, west of the River Teviot.
