Rainworth history

Rainworth started as a settlement close to a Roman road that provided access to the coalfields of Derbyshire for the Roman settlements in the area to the east of Nottinghamshire. The sheltered location and access to clean water from the River Idle (now called Rainworth Water) meant that the area was often used by travelling Romans as a camp site.

Rainworth Miners Welfare F.C. Rainworth Miners Welfare Football Club was formed in 1922. The club is based in Rainworth, near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England.

Blidworth Welfare F.C. Blidworth Welfare Football Club is a football club based near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They are currently members of the Central Midlands League South Division.

Blidworth The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,457. Its history can be traced back to the 10th century. Many of the current houses were built in the first half of the 20th century to provide housing for workers at Blidworth Colliery.

Haywood Oaks Haywood Oaks is a hamlet and former civil parish, 10 miles (16 km) from Nottingham, now in the parish of Blidworth. In 1931 the parish had a population of 17 but by 1961 the population of 756 had increased to 756. The parish continues as an extra parochial area in the Church of England.
