Pool Quay history
The village gets its name from the fact that it was the highest navigable point of the river close to Welshpool which was originally simply called Pool or Poole. Nearby is the site of Strata Marcella Abbey and the Montgomery Canal passes through the village.

Guilsfield
Guilsfield (Welsh: Cegidfa, lit. “Hemlock-field”) is a village and local government community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales. The community has an area of 30.01 km (11.59 sq mi) and had a population of 1,640 in 2001.
Buttington Oak
Oak said to have been planted to mark the site of the Battle of Buttington in 893. It had been cyclically pollarded for timber until around 150 years ago. Oak tree was rediscovered in 2009 and badly damaged by storms in 2017.
Trewern Hall
The Grade II* listed hall was occupied by the Lloyd, Francis and Whittaker families. In 1985-6 (SW end) and 1993-4 (NE end) it was extensively restored.
