Poltimore history
Two manors were recorded at Poltimore in the Domesday Book completed 1086. The name of the village itself likely comes from Old Welsh, Pwlltymawr, which translates to “The Pool by the Great House” The de Pultymor family also had a residence called Poltymore in Glamorgan, South Wales.

Battle of Pinhoe
The Battle of Pinhoe was a battle between the Danes and the men of Devon and Somerset at Pinhoe, Devon. The Danes were defeated in the battle.

Broadclyst is a village and civil parish in the East Devon local government district. In 2001 its population was 2,830, reducing at the 2011 Census to 1,467. An electoral ward with the same name exists whose population at the above census was 4,842.
