Pendoylan history
Pendoylan won the Environment Category in the 2004 Calor Village of the Year for Wales competition. The fertile land at Caerwigau was acquired by the Norman de Bonvils and in the twelfth century, 40 acres (160,000 m) were granted to the Knights Hospitallers who rented it out to the monks of Margham.

St Donat’s Church, Welsh St Donats
Records of 1180 describe the church as a chapel confirmed to the Abbey of Tewkesbury. By 1563 it was known to have served as a parish church for the community. By 1764 it received a stipend from Queen Anne’s Bounty and was described as a curacy.
