Oban history
Renfrew trading company established a storehouse there around 1714, as a local outlet for its merchandise. The custom-house was not deemed necessary until 1736, with “Oban being reckoned a proper place for clearing out vessels for the herring fishery”

Oban Hydro
The Oban Hills Hydropathic Sanatorium was a proposed hotel in Oban, Scotland . Construction of the hotel began in 1881 on a hill east of the downtown overlooking the town and the harbour . The hotel was never completed due to financial difficulties and currently lies in ruins .
