Forests of Mara and Mondrem
The Forests of Mara and Mondrem were a hunting forest of the Norman Earls of Chester. They were established soon after 1071 by the first earl, Hugh d’Avranches. The modern Delamere Forest is the remnant of the medieval forests, but little ancient woodland survives.

Eddisbury hill fort, also known as Castle Ditch, is an Iron Age hill fort near Delamere, Cheshire. It was constructed before 200–100 BC and expanded in the 1st century AD, the Romans slighted the site. It is the largest and most complex of the seven hill forts in Cheshire county.
