Morningthorpe (sometimes Morning Thorpe) is a village 20km south of Norwich. It is situated some 20km (12 mi) south of the city of Norwich, Norfolk. The village was struck by an F1/T2 tornado on 23 November 1981, as part of a nationwide tornado outbreak.

It lies on the A140 road, north of Long Stratton and south of Newton Flotman. The village is made up of Upper Tasburgh and Lower Tasburgh, with the name meaning ‘Taesa’s fortification’ The village hall and adjacent social club is home to Tasburgh’s community run post office.
