Moorepark, Glasgow history
Moorepark was originally a country estate which contained a mansion house, Moore Park, which was built in the early 19th century for the Hagart family. The estate was acquired in the 1870s by the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company and the mansion house was demolished. In 1934, Glasgow Corporation built the Moorepark Housing Estate, a typical Glasgow rehousing scheme of three-storey grey concrete-block tenements. A majority of the new residents were from the Gorbals, instead of the Govan area, which had pressing issues with overcrowding and poor quality tenements, earning the nickname ‘Wine Alley’

1990 Auckland Jewish daycare stabbing A mentally ill woman attacked the playground of the Jewish Kadimah School’s daycare in Central Auckland, stabbing four children with a knife. The attack continued as other young students looked on “in horror”, while members of staff ran to help the children. The woman, 52-year-old Pauline Janet Williamson, was eventually disarmed by a male teacher. The children, aged 6 to 8, were hospitalised immediately afterwards.
