The 1841 census records the settlement of New Mill as having a population of 31. The opening of the Bute and Mwyndy iron ore mines in 1852 and 1853 had a huge impact on the small hamlet. By the early 1870s New Mill had become the village of Miskin, with the village centre being based around the inn.

The Vale Resort The Vale Resort is a golf, spa and leisure hotel and resort in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. It consists of a hotel, spa, restaurant, restaurant and two championship golf courses.

Afon Clun The Afon Clun (English: River Clun) is a 14-mile (23 km) long tributary of the River Ely (Welsh: Afon Elái) The river is fast-flowing, in clear shallow water with a hard substrate. The river contains species such as stone loach, lamprey, eel, roach, chub and bullhead. Many archeological sites are close to the river, from Bronze Age tumuli on The Garth and an Iron Age hill fort at Rhiwsaeson.

Pontyclun F.C. Pontyclun Football Club is an amateur Welsh football club, founded in 1896. It plays in the Ardal Leagues South West, the third tier of the Welsh football pyramid. In 1922, the club was admitted to the Football Association of Wales, one of the few amateur clubs at the time to achieve such status. Peter Shilton was the record goalscorer for the club.

Hensol Castle Hensol Castle is a castellated mansion in the gothic architecture style dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is now a wedding and conference venue for The Vale Resort.
