Miskin history
The 1841 census records the settlement of New Mill as having a population of 31. The opening of the Bute and Mwyndy iron ore mines in 1852 and 1853 had a huge impact on the small hamlet. By the early 1870s New Mill had become the village of Miskin, with the village centre being based around the inn.

Pontyclun F.C.
Pontyclun Football Club is an amateur Welsh football club, founded in 1896. It plays in the Ardal Leagues South West, the third tier of the Welsh football pyramid. In 1922, the club was admitted to the Football Association of Wales, one of the few amateur clubs at the time to achieve such status. Peter Shilton was the record goalscorer for the club.
