The name of the River Kennet, which runs through Mildenhall, is thought to have been derived from the Roman name of Cunetio, which is also used on the village’s coat-of-arms. St Mary’s Church, Marlborough St Mary’s Church is the Church of England parish church in the town of Marlborough, Wiltshire. Founded in the 12th century, it was partly rebuilt after a fire of 1653, and extended in 1874.
