Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology is one of the teaching and research departments at the University of Cambridge. William Gates Building, Cambridge The William Gates Building is a square building that houses the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. It was named after William H. Gates Sr., the father of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Construction on the building began in 1999 and was completed in 2001 at a cost of £20 million.

There are a set of optical telescopes at the site on the Madingley Road in Cambridge. The Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory is a few kilometres southwest.
