Henry Gage was a substantial landowner in 16th century Northampton. He married Margaret Boyville, a daughter of Richard Boyville in 1505. Property at Little Harrowden, Raunds and Wellingborough was included in the marriage settlement. The manor remained in Henry’s ownership until the end of his life.

St Mary’s church dates mainly from the Norman period and is a Grade II* listed stone building. It consists of chancel, with south vestry, clerestoried nave of four bays, aisles, south porch and an embattled western tower.
