Heywood, Wiltshire history
Heywood was an estate of Stanley Abbey from the 13th century. It was acquired by Sir Edward Bayntun in 1537. The Wilts, Somerset and Weymouth Railway was built through the parish in 1848.

Brook Hall, in Heywood parish near the Biss Brook, is a c. 1600 farmhouse which incorporates a Grade I listed wing of a 15th-century manor house.
Heywood House
Heywood House was built in 17th century by James Ley and his brother Matthew. It was later owned by the Phipps family, who died at the house in 1748. Later in the century the house came into the Ludlow family. For a time it was the headquarters of the National Trust.

Southwick Court
Southwick Court is a Grade II* listed moated medieval manor house at the centre of a system of fields and water meadows. It has remained a private residence under a succession of owners for at least 800 years. The current house dates from the late 16th century but its gatehouse is late 15th century.
Westbury railway station
