The Church of St Mary the Virgin was dedicated in March 1876. It was funded and specified by James Walton, father of Frederick Walton the inventor of Linoleum. The church has an oak frame with plaster-and-cement walls between. It has a nave with four bays and a south aisle of three bays.

Junction Mills, Ashton-under-Lyne The Junction Mills were cotton spinning and weaving mills to the west of the Portland Basin in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
