Until 1997 there was a settlement at Greensplat, but the centre of the settlement was entirely demolished. Most of the buildings were Victorian in period, with the exception of a few Georgian and earlier period cottages related to farming and tin streaming that took place prior to clay extraction.

St Austell River The St Austell River (Cornish: Dowr an Wynyk, meaning the little white river) is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long. The river has also been known as the “red river” due to tin streaming and mining activity upstream. The name White River has been adopted because waste water from china clay quarrying and refining practices was emptied into the river giving it a white colour.

Holy Trinity Church, St Austell Holy Trinity Church, St Austell is a Grade I listed parish church in Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s and is now a Grade II listed church.

St Austell Clay Pits St Austell Clay Pits, (Cornwall, England, UK,) are a group of locations within active china clay quarries that form a single Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation. The site is known for the rare western rustwort, a plant that grows only at two other sites in the UK.

Greensplat Greensplat is situated in the china clay area of south Cornwall. The name is believed to be derived from Green’s Plat, referring to a mine shaft nearby that was known as “the Plat”

Wheal Martyn The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum is a museum of china clay mining, at Carthew, on the B3274 road about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of St Austell in Cornwall. Victorian clay works has been preserved, and there is an exhibition building.
