Role in Norman and Medieval Cheshire

The village did not expand much in the Medieval and Norman periods due to its boundaries being defined agriculturally . Little Warford, Marthall, Nether Alderley, Chelford, Mobberley and Chorley all had their own land which meant expansion beyond the existing borders was impossible .

Chorley Old Hall Chorley Old Hall is a moated manor house on the B5359 road to the southwest of Alderley Edge, Cheshire. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is the oldest inhabited country house in Cheshire and consists of two ranges, one medieval (built around 1330) and the other Elizabethan (built in the mid-16th century)

Nether Alderley Mill Nether Alderley Mill is one of only four virtually complete corn mills in Cheshire. It is a unique example of a triple overshot waterwheel system, two of which are in working order.

Moss Lane, Alderley Edge Moss Lane is a cricket ground in Moss Lane, Alderley Edge, Cheshire. It is also a venue for tennis, squash and field hockey. The ground is surrounded on all four sides by residential housing.
