In 1086 there was one manor of Great Oakley held by Launcelin and in the 12th century this was held of the Honour of Huntingdon by de Houton. In 1647 a dispute occurred with William Brighunt, keeper of the forest, for trespass by Thomas Brooke by taking conies from the common at Snatchall and collecting tithe wool from lambs. At the enclosure of the Rockingham Bailiwick in 1833 it was considered to be part of Rockingham Forest.

Great Oakley, Northamptonshire Great Oakley is an outer suburb of Corby situated two miles south west of the town centre and five miles from Kettering, England. It was represented on Corby Borough Council by one councillor. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 2,248.

Pipewell Hall, Northamptonshire Pipewell Hall in Northamptonshire is Grade II listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built near the ruins of a Cistercian abbey in 1675. The Hall was the home of many notable people over the next three centuries.
