Goltho history
A Romano-British settlement at Goltho in the 1st and 2nd centuries. The origin of the name is uncertain, perhaps from an Old Scandinavian (Viking) first name or the Viking word for “ravine” The remains of the early medieval village were excavated in the 1970s. A motte-and-bailey castle was built in around 1080.

Wragby is a town and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire. It is situated at the junction of the A157 and A158 roads, and approximately 10 miles (16 km) north-west from Horncastle.

St George’s Church is a redundant Anglican church in the deserted village of Goltho, Lincolnshire. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The church was severely fire damaged in 2013.
