Roman road from Axminster to Exeter passes through the northern edge of the parish. In about AD 60 the Romans built a small fort on the road less than a kilometre NW of the modern village. It appears to have been dismantled by the army around AD 80.

Honiton Town F.C. Honiton Town Football Club is a football club based in Honiton, Devon. They are currently members of the South West Peninsula League Premier Division East and play at Mountbatten Park.

Deer Park Country House, Buckerell Deer Park Country House near Honiton, Devon is Grade II listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built in the early 1700s by a wealthy landowner and was the home of many notable people. Today it is a venue for special events including conferences and weddings.

St James and St Anne’s Church, Alfington St James’ and St Anne’s Church is a Church of England church in Alfington, Devon. It was built in 1849 at the expense of Sir John Taylor Coleridge and designed by William Butterfield. The exterior is considered unusual in its austerity and singular treatment of the belfry.
