Edingale was mentioned in the Domesday book as part of Derbyshire and belonging to Henry de Ferrers. The name of the village comes from Old English, with the meaning nook of land of Edin’s (or Eadwine’s) people. In 1831 the population of the Staffordshire village was 177. By 1851 it had risen to 197, on about 850 acres of land.

The village of Croxall also has a number of historic buildings. A number of houses in the village are listed Grade II, as is the Church of the Holy Trinity and associated buildings.

Shot at Dawn Memorial The Shot at Dawn Memorial is a monument at the National Memorial Arboretum near Alrewas, in Staffordshire, UK. It commemorates the 306 soldiers executed after courts-martial for desertion and other capital offences during World War I.

Croxall Lakes Croxall Lakes is a nature reserve in Staffordshire. The reserve is an important stop off point for a wide variety of migrating birds. The site is managed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and owned by National Forest Company.

Wichnor Viaduct Wichnor Viaduct is a 1,310 feet (400 m) viaduct on the former Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway line near Wychnor, Staffordshire, England now part of the Cross Country Route.

St John the Baptist’s Church, Croxall St John the Baptist’s Church, Croxall is a Grade II* listed parish church. It was built in the 1930s. It is located on the site of the Church of England.

Combined Operations Headquarters Combined Operations Headquarters was a department of the British War Office set up during Second World War. It was set up to harass the Germans on the European continent by means of raids carried out by use of combined naval and army forces.
