East Bilney was not recorded in the Domesday Book and was accounted for under the Earl Warren’s lordship of Gressenhale. The name “Bilney” means ‘Bil(l)a’s island’ On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Beetley.

East Bilney East Bilney is a village and former civil parish, 19 miles (31 km) north west of Norwich. It has a church called St Mary which is located away from the village and a car dealer. In 1931 the parish had a population of 117.

Brisley Brisley is located about halfway between Fakenham and East Dereham. It covers an area of 4.90 km (1.89 sq mi) and had a population of 276 in 117 households at the 2001 census. The population at the 2011 Census was 281.

Spong Hill Spong Hill is the largest Early Anglo-Saxon burial site ever excavated. The site consisted of two cemeteries, a large cremation cemetery and a smaller, 6th century cemetery of 57 inhumations. Extensive excavations of the Early Saxon cemetery and part of the associated settlement revealed evidence of Early Prehistoric occupation.
