Dingestow history
The village was once the site of a Norman motte and bailey sited to control this part of the Welsh Marches by the incoming Marcher Lords. It was later replaced by a larger, stone-built one, which was attacked by Hywel ap Iorwerth, the Welsh lord of Caerleon, in 1182.

White Hill, Monmouth White Hill is a hill rising to over 205 metres (673 ft) to the west of Monmouth, South Wales and north of Wonastow. Much of it is covered by woodland.
Treowen Treowen (or Tre-owen) is an early 17th-century gentry house in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is now a conference and functions venue and is the venue for the annual Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival.
The Artha, Tregare The Artha, Tregare, Monmouthshire is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century. It is a Grade II* listed building.
Tregare Tregare (Welsh: Tre’r-gaer) is an ancient parish on the northern border of the Raglan hundred of Monmouthshire in southeast Wales.
St Mary’s Church, Tregare Church of St Mary at Tregare, Monmouthshire, south east Wales, is a Grade II* listed building. Dating originally from the fourteenth century, the tower is later, probably of the fifteenth century. The church was restored in the early twentieth century.
Pen-y-clawdd Farmhouse, Raglan Pen-y-clawdd Farmhouse, Raglan, Monmouthshire is a gentry gentry house dating from the early 17th century. Owned by the Bradburys, High Sheriffs of Monmouth, and later by the Williams family and then by the Prichards of Penallt.
Tŷ Mawr, Dingestow Tŷ Mawr, Dingestow, Monmouthshire is a complex of farm buildings dating from 1640. The farmhouse and attached barn are listed Grade II*. The gatehouse to the farm has a separate Grade II* listing.
The Hendre The Hendre, (Welsh: Yr Hendre a farmer’s winter residence; literally meaning old home) in Rockfield is the only full-scale Victorian country house in Monmouthshire, Wales. Built in the eighteenth century as a shooting box, it was vastly expanded by the Rolls family in three stages during the nineteenth century. The house is Grade II* listed and is now the clubhouse of the Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club.
Old Trecastle Farmhouse, Pen-y-clawdd Old Trecastle Farmhouse, Pen-y-clawdd, Monmouthshire is a farmhouse, originally, a gentry house. It stands on the site of the outworks of a Norman motte-and-bailey castle. The house is Grade II* listed.
St Martin’s Church, Pen-y-clawdd The Church of St Martin, Pen-y-clawdd, Monmouthshire, Wales is a parish church with Norman origins. It is located on the site of an early Welsh defensive earthwork. The church was restored in 1884–85 and is Grade II* listed.
