The village is an excellent example of an Anglo-Saxon settlement overlooking the River Teme. The earliest surviving mention of the village is in the Latin charter of King Athelstan, granting it to the monks of St. Peter’s Monastery in Worcester in 934 AD. During the time of the wars with the Welsh, the manor of Clifton became established and was granted Royal Borough status by Edward III of England in 1377.

Old St Bartholomew’s Church, Lower Sapey Old St Bartholomew’s Church is a redundant Anglican church near the village of Lower Sapey, Worcestershire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II* listed building.

Ham Castle Ham Castle is located in Worcestershire at the bottom of a wooded escarpment. It was a medieval motte and bailey castle. A hoard of medieval gold and silver was found on the site in 17th century.

Shelsley Beauchamp Shelsley Beauchamp is 9 miles (14 km) north west of Worcester, in the Malvern Hills district of Worcestershire. In 2011 the parish had a population of 192. It is on the opposite bank of the River Teme to Shelsleys Walsh. It was in the lower division of Doddingtree Hundred.
