Once it was a hamlet of farms, mills and terrace houses for mill-workers but now it is a village. It was called Chisley until 1964, but was changed to Chiserley on the 1979 OS map.

Hebden Bridge Picture House Hebden Bridge Picture House is one of the last remaining council-owned cinemas in Britain. The Picture House, built between 1919-1921, is an independent cinema with daily evening screenings, weekend matinees and tea time screenings. Hardcastle Crags Hardcastle Crags is a wooded Pennine valley in West Yorkshire, England, owned by the National Trust. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Hebden Bridge and 10 miles (16 km) west of Halifax.
