East Casthorpe (SK869355), with no evidence apart from earlier maps, was sited at or around Cothorpe Lodge. West Casthornorpe is also mentioned in the Domesday Book. Aerial photographs show earthworks, enclosures, ridges and furrows.

The two-storey farmhouse is a rendered and whitewashed house dating to c.1800 with an adjoining single storey range. There are four listed structures in the town, including a lodge and farmhouse.

Casthorpe is a settlement of three farms and two rows of converted cottages. The Grantham Canal is at the south of the hamlet. The Old Beck flows through the east, eventually reaching the River Witham at Marston as Foston Beck.
