Campsall lies 7 miles (11 km) to the north-west of Doncaster, at an elevation of around 50 feet above sea level. Campsall history


Campsall was granted a Royal Charter in 1294 entitling it to a weekly Thursday market and an annual four-day fair. During the 18th century the village was dominated by the landed gentry. At opposite ends of the village, the Bacon-Franks and the Cooke-Yarboroughs built Campsmount. It was not until the 1950s that major changes began to affect the village. From 1956 the local authority and the National Coal Board developed a large area of housing.
