The 13th-century, ruined Caergwrle Castle was first built by Tywysog (Prince) Dafydd ap Gruffydd. He was the last independent ruler of Wales until Owain Glyndwr’s uprising in the 15th Century. A myth developed of a giant named Gwrle, who was supposed to have lived in the castle and been buried in the nearby Neolithic burial mound.

Hope (Welsh: Yr Hôb) is a small village and community in Flintshire, north-east Wales. At the 2001 Census, community the population was 2,522, increasing to 4,224 at the 2011 Census partly due to boundary changes.

It served an area stretching from Amlwch in the west to Holywell in the east, but could be heard as far away as Manchester and The Fylde.
