Blyton history
Blyton derives from a combination of Old Norse and Old English. The settlement is listed in the Domesday Book as “Blitone” Great Central Railway’s heavy rail line between Gainsborough and Grimsby came to the village around 1848. During the Second World War, the bomber airfield was home to RAF Blyon, just north-east of the village.
