Beedon history

RAF decoy airfield opened to the west of the town during WWII. Its role was to deflect the bombing of real airfields. It was parented by nearby RAF Station Harwell, in Oxfordshire.

Beedon geography / climate

The village has outlying farmhouses and is otherwise clustered west of the A34 road. The village is located west of A34 near the A36 road.

Natural conservation areas

Beedon has a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) just to the north-east of the village called Ashridge Wood.

Denison Barracks Denison Barracks is a military installation at Hermitage in Berkshire, England. It is located on the south coast of Berkshire. The base is located in the town of Denison, Berkshire, and is on the outskirts of the town.

Perborough Castle Archaeological evidence suggests that it was a lightly defended and perhaps a seasonally occupied site. Site covers approximately 14 acres (5.7 ha) and lies on the chalky downs of West Berkshire. Site is currently farmland and has been heavily ploughed.
