The Convent of Our Lady of Charity & Refuge was founded in 1863 and paid for by Robert Biddulph Phillips of Longworth. Its red-brick building was designed by Edward Pugin south east of the main village. The convent received girls placed into their care by social services and predecessor organisations.

Lugwardine Lugwardine is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire. It lies on the north-east bank of the River Lugg, which gives the village its name. The name means ‘enclosure or homestead on the (river) Lugg’ The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 Census was 1,721.

Stoke Edith The 14th-century church of St Mary is a grade I listed building. It has an immaculate needle spire set behind a parapet recess. The Foleys rebuilt the stone church completely in 1740.
