The village’s name means ‘farm/settlement of Berwulf or Beornwulf’ Although coal miners lived in the village, there was never a mine at Barlestone. The miners travelled to pits in Bagworth, Coalville and Newbold Heath.

Market Bosworth Country Park The 35 hectares (86 acres) landscaped Country Park was formerly part of Bosworth Hall deer parkland. The park features a lake, a planted arboretum, a wildflower meadow and a community woodland.

Barton in the Beans Barton in the Beans is a hamlet in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire. It was in the 18th century an important centre for the Baptist Church and the minister at Barton was the notable clockmaker Samuel Deacon. The population ca. 1830 was 177.

Newbold Verdon Hall Newbold Verdon Hall was built for Nathaniel Crew, 3rd Baron Crew, Bishop of Durham. It is a Grade I listed building in Leicestershire. It was originally surrounded by a wide moat.
