Auckley history
The village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. In the 1960s substantial housing development took place in Auckley to accommodate the families at RAF Finningley. Since the closure of the RAF in 1996, there has been development of the old airfield estate around Hayfield Lane.

Cantley, South Yorkshire
Cantley is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. It has a population of 2,830, reducing slightly to 2,817 at the 2011 Census. The village is adjacent to Bessacarr, separated by Bawtry Road.

RAF Finningley
RAF Finningley was a Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force station. The station straddled the historic county boundaries of both Nottinghamshire and the West Riding of Yorkshire. The airfield has now been developed into an international airport named Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
