Haldon Aerodrome was the first airfield in Devon. Established in the 1920s as a private flying field. It developed into an airport with scheduled airline service. It was used by the Navy during World War II.

Lindridge House was a large 17th-century mansion in the south-west of Devon. It was destroyed by fire on 25 April 1963 and its ruins were finally demolished in the early 1990s. The gardens have been restored and are Grade II listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
