Warblington history


The Saxon settlement at Warblington, established in the 7th century, is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The parish church of St Thomas à Becket is part of a joint parish with St James, Emsworth. The village was the site of a medieval manor built in 1515 and 1525 and mostly destroyed in 1644 in English Civil War.

Recent times

Warblington contains a large secondary school (Warblington School) but no primary school. The Grade I Listed St Thomas à Becket Church and Grade II listed Old Farmhouse are all within the boundaries of the Warbledton Conservation Area. A cemetery, the ruins of Warblingon Castle, on private property, and the Grade I listed Old Rectory are within the area.
