Battle of Bothwell Bridge Battle of Bothwell Bridge, or Bothwell Brig, took place on 22 June 1679. It was fought between government troops and militant Presbyterian Covenanters. The battle signalled the end of their brief rebellion.

Tannochside Tannochside is located 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Glasgow, Scotland. It lies within a separate local authority area, North Lanarkshire. It is often debated as to where the borders lie between the two areas.

Bellshill Maternity Hospital Bellshill Maternity Hospital was a health facility in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The hospital was a maternity hospital in the 1960s.

Blantyre Celtic F.C. Blantyre Celtic Football Club were a Scottish football club that played under the auspices of the Scottish Junior Football Association. Their home ground was near Springwell and they had as local rivals Blantry Victoria, known locally as the Vics. Their most famous player was Jimmy Johnstone. In 2010, the club reformed as an amateur team in the area.

Bothwell Castle Bothwell Castle was built in the 13th century to guard a strategic crossing point of the Clyde. The castle played a key role in Scotland’s Wars of Independence, changing hands several times. It was severely damaged in a series of sieges and abandoned by the 18th century.
