Tywyn was the location of the first religious community administered by the Breton saint Cadfan upon his arrival in Gwynedd. The church contains some early material (see below)

Tywyn toponymy

The name derives from the Welsh tywyn (“beach, seashore, sand-dune”): extensive sand dunes lie to the north and south of the town. A referendum was held in 1968, with residents being asked to decide between Tywyn or Towyn. In the Early Modern period, the spelling Towyn became common in Welsh in order to reflect a slight change in pronunciation at that time.

Tywyn Hospital Tywyn Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Tywyn) is a health facility in Tywyn, Gwynedd, Wales. It is managed by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Ynysymaengwyn Ynysymaengwyn was a gentry house in the parish of Tywyn, Gwynedd (formerly Merioneth) situated near the south bank of the River Dysynni. The name means ‘the white stone island’

River Dysynni River Dysynni measures about 16 mi (26 km) in length. Its source is the Tal-y-llyn Lake (Welsh: Llyn Mwyngil) and its mouth is in the Cardigan Bay area of the Irish Sea.
