Tregarth history

The village grew around the local slate industry, with many houses being built to house quarry workers and their families. The village is renowned for a street of houses that were built by Lord Penrhyn to accommodate the workers that refused to strike in 1900–1903. Tregarth has a population of around 1,300 people of which around 80% consider the Welsh language as their first language.

Cochwillan Cochwillan is a medieval hall house situated in the lower Ogwen Valley, south of the village of Talybont in the parish of Llanllechid, between Bethesda and Llandygai. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade I listed building.
