The name means “Beautiful hill” when translated from Welsh, deriving not from the Welsh for “wave” (ton) as might be thought, but rather from the word “twyn” A farm on the Black Road above the nearby Church Village is named Dan-y-twyn (“Beneath the hill”)

Upper Boat power station
Upper Boat power station supplied electricity to Pontypridd and the wider area from 1904 to 1972. The station was decommissioned in 1972 and was demolished in 1976. It was owned and operated by the South Wales Electrical Power Distribution Company.

Dynea Halt was a small halt on the Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport Railway, and closed in 1956.

Mynydd Meio is a 322-metre-high hill in the county borough of Caerphilly in South Wales. The high point is just over 200 m north of the trig point which sits at 322 metres (1,056 ft) above sea-level.
Taff’s Well Thermal Spring
Taff’s Well thermal spring is located north of Cardiff, South Wales. It is the only thermal spring in Wales. The spring is enclosed inside a well and stone building constructed in the 19th century.

The team are based in Taff’s Well, in Cardiff, and compete in the Cymru South, the second tier of Welsh football. The team is nicknamed the Wellmen and their home is situated at the Rhiw’r Ddar Stadium.
Taff’s Well
Taff’s Well (Welsh: Ffynnon Taf), is a semi-rural village, community and electoral ward located at the south easterly tip of Rhondda Cynon Taf, 6 miles (9.7 km) to the North of Cardiff. It is separated from Gwaelod Y Garth by the River Taff. The Garth Mountain overlooks the village and was the inspiration for the fictional “Fynnon Garw”, featured in the book and film The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain.
