In the south of the parish within the South Downs National Park is a bell barrow, bowl barrow and regular aggregate field system. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument indicating Bronze Age inhabitation.

Manor

In AD 909 Edward the Elder granted the manor of Tichborne to Denewulf, Bishop of Winchester. The Roman Catholic family has held the Roman Catholic manor since the 12th century. The manor is not recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Other buildings

Almost all of the other buildings are clustered near each other and are listed buildings. Near Cheriton is the only Grade II* listed building, Sevington Farmhouse. Seward’s Bridge over the River Itchen and Watercress Line railway.

Old Alresford House Old Alresford House was built between 1749 and 1751 for Admiral Lord Rodney. The house is constructed of brick with Bath stone dressings and slated roofs in 3 storeys and a basement. It has a 7-bay frontage with the central 3 bays slightly projecting.

River Alre River Alre rises in Bishop’s Sutton and flows west for 6 km (3.7 mi) to meet the Itchen below New Alresford. The river is a classic English chalk stream with a shallow gravel bed and fast flowing waters, fed year-round by chalk springs.

Ovington House Ovington House is a late 18th century house in Hampshire. It was built in the late 1800s. It is located in the town centre of Ovevington, Hampshire, and is situated on the road.

Capital South Coast Capital South Coast was a regional radio station owned by operated by Global Radio. It broadcast to Hampshire from studios in Segensworth, Fareham. It was replaced by Capital South following a merger with Capital Brighton.

St Mary’s Church, Itchen Stoke St Mary, Itchen Stoke, Hampshire, is a redundant Anglican church. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building. It is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
