Selkirk, Scottish Borders Selkirk is a historic royal burgh in the Scottish Borders council district of southeastern Scotland. It lies on the Ettrick Water, a tributary of the River Tweed. The people of the town are known as Souters, which means cobblers (shoe makers and menders)

The Haining The Haining is a country house and estate in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. The present house dates from the 1790s, and was a property of the Pringle family. In 2009, the house and grounds were bequeathed to the people of Selkirkshire and the wider public. A two-bedroom holiday apartment, The Ettrick, is also now available within the grounds.

Yarrow Water The Yarrow Water is a tributary of the Ettrick Water. It is renowned for its high quality trout and salmon fishing. The valley was the birthplace of Mungo Park and has inspired several well-known songs and poems.

Bowhill, Scottish Borders Bowhill is a village off the A708, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, near Selkirk, by the Yarrow Water. Other places nearby include Bowhill House, Boleside, Broadmeadows, Ettrickbridge, Kirkhope.

Bowhill House Bowhill House is a member of the Historic Houses Association. It is one of the homes of the Duke of Buccleuch. The house is protected as a Category A listed building.

Newark Castle, Selkirkshire Newark Tower is a large, ruined tower house standing in the grounds of Bowhill House, in the valley of the Yarrow Water in the Scottish Borders. It has been designated a scheduled monument by Historic Environment Scotland.
