Ovingham landmarks

The Ovingham vicarage was, in medieval times, a cell for three Augustinian canons of Hexham, and was rebuilt in the seventeenth century. It was formerly the residence of the late Frank Atkinson, who did so much to establish the Beamish Museum and also the Bewick Trust at Cherryburn. The Whittle Burn can be traced back to the present day Whittledean Water Works.

Cherryburn Cherryburn is a cottage in Mickley, Northumberland, England, which was the birthplace of Thomas Bewick, an English wood engraver and ornithologist. The cottage, its adjacent farmhouse and large grounds have been managed by the National Trust since 1991.

Prudhoe Castle Prudhoe Castle is a ruined medieval English castle situated on the south bank of the River Tyne in Northumberland. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I listed building.

Prudhoe Prudhoe has a population of over 11,500, measured at 11,675 in the 2011 Census. Today, it has largely become a commuter town for nearby Newcastle.
